So as I write this post I’ve just completed marathon 9! The hardest one yet ? Reasons why it’s nearly killed me… the hot weather… working, carry all that mail… not enough sleep… and the fact I’ve done the previous 8! WHAT WAS I THINKING?! ???. This is so much harder than I thought it was going to be.
The body so far is holding up pretty well, I’m tired and aching obviously but it’s my little head that keep losing the plot. It all feels so overwhelming to be honest, and as well as doing the marathons there’s so much to keep updating and needs organising. I’ve no idea how I’m going to get through the 26… this is going to be one tough physical and mental battle. Right now I’m tired and scared if I’m honest. ? Anyway, tomorrow is another day and I’m one strong, determined cookie!
There are two things that are keeping me going:
First is Sol, I made her a promise to get her this money and I intend to keep that promise. I’m in touch with her often when she is having ok days, her words of kindness, thanks and encouragement mean everything to me. On her bad days, I leave her to it, she’s in a hell of a lot of pain, she just digs deep and keeps fighting. This campaign has given her a reason to fight, to keep going, she’s so strong! She and I are both incredibly grateful for everyone’s efforts so far for helping to make this campaign work, to raise the money she needs but also, to try to make a little difference to the world along the way. ☺️.
The 2nd reason is you, my friends, family, and people who have decided to come along on this ride with me, the business that have offered their services, freebies, collections etc. Friends offering to walk/run with me, and everyone so far who’s got on board with the sunshine missions ☀️☺️☀️ Seeing your enthusiasm for doing this has just been so beautiful to watch, people giving blood for the first time and telling me how good it made them feel knowing they were making a difference. Buying toys and food for people less fortunate, then down to the simple stuff, people just walking around smiling at folk and generally being a little kinder. I don’t know about you but since this campaign started I’m now more aware of my actions. I know the difference you can make to someone else’s life by doing the smallest things.
We’re only on day 9 people, we’ve go a long way to go. Please keep supporting, you’re all brilliant! And remember… spread love, spread hope, spread a little sunshine ☀️
I can’t thank you all enough.
